Abstract:Some of the results of a survey in 1966 among a sample of 268 rural wage-earners in the territory of Lukula in central Mayombe, Western Congo. The survey focussed on: 1. the labour market and 2. the social and economic ties between the workers and their village kinsmen. This article deals exclusively with the latter.
