Abstract:This article examines whether White missionaries of Western-orientated churches still have a role to play in developing territories, and more specifically if there is still a place for them in the Bantu Homelands now progressing towards sovereign political status. Is the localization of mission hospitals in the Homelands inevitable - and if so, with what speed and abruptness is this likely to occur? The factor ultimately answering these questions is the attitude of the individual and of a group to the demands which must be met, according to the unfolding sequence of an immutable historical process, if one wants to qualify for the continuing role of agents and co-operators in developmental change.
