Abstract: | This paper begins with presenting a view of the nation and nation-building that does not recommend perfect homogeneity but emphasises the sharing of cultural values. Tracing the role of education in national integration in Nigeria over the years, it is observed that it has been largely non-integrative. Some proposals are made for organizing the components of the school curriculum around the integrative theme. Finally, it was observed that the chances of the school to provided integrative experiences will be enhanced if the larger society itself is integrated. Education for nation building is education for sosial regeneration. Ref., notes. |
