Abstract:This paper reflects on how Biafrans used songs to nurture patriotic feelings during the 30 months civil war. It contents that if the use of songs helped to nurture nationalist feelings during the war, it can play an important part now the Nigerians are once again experimenting with the concept of one united strong Nigeria. The author distinguishes between religious chants, morale boosters, praise chants and satires of s selfcritical nature. - Notes.
