| Abstract: | British colonization in Kenya was first of all a land colonization. Most of the agricultural land alienated to colonist was taken from the Kamba people, while their grazing-ground in- eluded in the reserve was not enough. The article studies the evolution of this situation for a period of about 40 years, during which: there were political problems closely related to the land problem. During this same period the Kamba peasants were slowly drawn into the market economy.
