Abstract:Extremely little seems to have been written on the strange position of the Cape Colored People in the scheme of apartheid. This essay is an attempt to focus on an important group caught between the poles of a pigmentocratic scale, by exploring the extent to which the Cape Colored are marginal to the two great ethnic protagonists.
