| Abstract: | Udje is a unique type of dance in the Ujevwe, Udu, Olomu and a few other clans of the Urhobo people of the Niger delta area. Udje songs are dance songs, sung for Uhaghwa, the god of songs and dance. This paper shows how poetic the songs are, a quality which has been often ignored. - App., notes. |
