Abstract: | The author uses linguistic evidence, written Portuguese sources and archaeological evidence to piece together information on the early history of the Lolo people, an offshoot of the main Lomwe cluster. Aim of this paper is to construct a possible date for the separation of the Lolo speakers from the Lomwe paper and for the first contact of the Lolo with the Marawi. The tentative conclusion is that about 1200 AD the vanguard of the Lolo had already made contact with the Maravi. Map, ref. |
