Abstract:Brief survey of the American community, a western minority group in Ghana. The objective of the study was to determine what personal and social needs require collective, remedial measures and to ascertain what methods have been devised by the community to meet such contingences. A total of 30 interviews were held. Interviews included the Embassy Consular Officer, the Embassy doctor, prominent American Embassy officials and their wives, different levels of staff in various United States agencies, expatriate wives of Ghanaians, Afro-Americans adopting Ghana as their new home, missionaries. Composition of the survey: 1. Description of the American community - 2. Securities precluding the emergence of acute social problems - 3. Social problems. Conclusion.
