Abstract:This article is an account of the collapse of the emirate of Bida which is copied from a manuscript history of the Nupe kingdoms composed by Mohammedu Kologiwa, Ubandawakin Bida, (1926). In the introduction the author gives a short biography of Kologiwa, followed by a description of the penetration of the British in the Niger which resulted in the capture of the capital Bida. The manuscript is presented in Hausa as well as in English and deals with the events which took place between the Etsu's flight from his burning capital and the final occupation of Bida four years later.
