Abstract:After the establishment of the United Republic of Tanzania in 1965, TANU has remained the only party of Tanganyika, with Zanzibar the domain of the Afro-Shirazi Party. Zanzibar has wide autonomy, ensured by the right to maintain its own legislative and executive organs, while the central organs of the United Republic simultaneously serve as the central organs of Tanganyika. The relationship between them and TANU is the subject of this article. Sections: the in-stitutionalization of the party - the party and the state - the President of the United Republic - the cabinet - parliament - the commissioners. Conclusion: the inter-linking of the party and the state in Tanzania is very close. Notes.
