Abstract:Regional systems analysis has proved useful for describing the structure of the circulation of goods and services in 'peripheral' African nations. Anthropologists have found the regional systems orientation to be a fruitful complement to communitylevel analyses of production processes. What is now needed is to adapt an essentially descriptive tool to the evaluation of the development process within the nation-states of the Third World. this paper employs a regional systems approach to evaluate economic development in Zinder Province, the Niger Republic. - Fig., notes, tab.
