Abstract:In secondary schools and teacher training colleges in Uganda there have been more than two dozen serious strike outbreaks since 1955, with as many as nine in 1965 alone. This paper aims at answering briefly four questions: What is a school strike? How big a problem are strikes in Uganda? Who are the strikers? Why do they strike? Notes.
