Abstract:In Africa tea was growing in the Durban Botanical Gardens in 1850 and there developed, in Natal, a small local plantation industry which subsequently died out. The oldest continuing tea industry in Africa is in Malawi. A review of tea growing in Malawi is given from about 1878 till, the 1970s. Bibliogr.
