Abstract:Increase the earning capacity, and thus the incomes, of women associated with eight rural community development centers in Mali was the purpose of a tiedyeing and batik training program organized in June, 1977, by the Women and Development Program of the American Friends Service Committee in Banjul, The Gambia, at the request of representatives of the Malian Ministry of Rural Development. The program sought to improve the technical dyeing skills of twelve community development workers representing the eight centers, each of which includes cloth production as part of an integrated program of health and education activities. Upon return to Mali, participants were charged with teaching their newly learned skills to the roughly 100 members involved with the centers. Notes, ref.
