Abstract: | The work is a micro-study of the structure of traditional Igbo society. Anthropologists who adopted the synchronic approach in their study, have described the Igbo as a people who lived in a stateless society. Using the Ngwa who constitute the largest clan in Igboland as an example, it has been shown in this paper that the Igbo have evolved complex socio-political organisations over time. - Fig., maps, notes, sum. in French. |
