| Abstract: | The last decades of the 19th century saw a ferocious hostility between the Kisii and Kipsigis, a hostility which often flared up in the form of raids, counter-raids and even full-scale wars. This article examines one battle. The data are collected by interviewing old men and women from both tribes.
