Abstract:The aim of this article is to dispel some of the prejudices and false ideas till prevalent even in learned circles about catholic education in the Southern Sudan. For this purpose, the author has chosen to cmment on three books: 1) 'Directions in Sudanese Linguistics and Folklore' by S.H. Hureiz and H. Bell (Khartoum University, 1975); 2) 'The Secret War in the Sudan: 1955-1972' by Edgar O'Ballance (Faber and Faber. 1977); 3) 'The Southern Sudan - Background to Conflict' by Mohammed Omer Beshir (Hurst, 1968).
