Abstract: | Report on a three-weeks' stay in Ngamu Ujamaa Village, Singida Region, Tanzania. The Swiss authors draw attention to the very poor information the Swiss people get about Africa. They tell about the difficulties they met before obtaining permission to stay in an Ujamaa village. They got the impression that in Dar es Salaam many people give acclamation to Ujamaa villages knowing only their theoretical value out not their concrete everyday aspect. Their account of their experiences in Ngamu Ujamaa Village gives a good view on the Ujamaa village system. Their conclusion is that a big step towards the implementation of the socialist policies of Tanzania already has been made. |
