Abstract: | Nigeria's export earnings are highly volatile. This can adversely impinge on investment, and therefore, on economic growth. The author explores the reaction of public and private capital stock to fluctuations in export, using data derived from the IMF for the period 1973-1995. He finds that fluctuations in export earnings had an adverse impact on both public and private capital stock in the short run, with the impact being more severe on the latter. Bibliogr., sum. |
