Abstract:A community health survey carried out in June 1983 in the village of Onuenyim, in the Izi area of South East Nigeria, indicated significant differences in the health experiences of the more traditional and conservative aspects of Izi society and those representing a more innovative life style. A brief overview of the Izi area - Population, water supply, seasonal cycle of work and food intake, labour, traditions, and changes - precedes the presentation and discussion of the survey results.
