Abstract: | Contemporary Libyan foreign policy has been influenced by a variety of internal and external determinants, ranging from geography to ideology. While some of these determinants were also influential during the reign of King Idris I, others are new or have assumed greater importance during the revolutionary epoch. To understand the aggressive but coherent foreign policy pursued by the Libyan government since 1969, it is necessary to address the relative importance of each determinant as well as their combined impact.
