Abstract: | Ilorin is the capital of Kwara State in Nigeria. It is the largest and most populated settlement in the Middle Belt of Nigeria and has the peculiarity of having developed between two distinct cultural groups - the Hausa/Fulani to the north and Yoruba to the south. Both social and cultural traits are to be found on her landscape, which this paper intends to examine: Urban ecological concepts - Research method - Settlement development in the early history of Ilorin - Second phase development under European influence - Third phase: Ilorin since the creation of states - Conclusion.
