Abstract: | The issue of the inheritance of Christian widows formed a considerable proportion of the representations which Kenyan mission societies made to the colonial administration. The article describes the missionary efforts to exert pressure on the government to change the 'native marriage law', in which they succeeded when the marriage ordinance of 1931 was accepted. Notes. |
