Abstract:Because women constitute the vital majority of the population of Uganda, the country needs to design and develop an information system charged with the responsibility of improving on information service delivery in women-related areas. The emphasis of this paper is on women's reproductive health information. The right to such information should be absolute. The article gives attention to women's reproductive health information needs; barriers to the delivery of women's health information services; and women's health information infrastructure in Uganda. Strategies to realize the right to reproductive health information include a national health information policy, the delivery of health information and education, the sensitization of health workers and authorities, the use of alternative media in accessing health information, and the involvement of the Association for Health Information and Libraries in Africa and relevant NGOs. What is needed is a concerted effort of health workers, information workers, and women's NGOs to exert pressure on government and to influence policy in favour of women's reproductive health services in Uganda.
