Abstract: | This article discusses various sociocultural characteristics of the Luo, Abagusii (Gusii), Abakuria (Kuria), and Abasuba (Suba) of Nyanza Province, Kenya, such as belief in witchcraft, migration, the extended family system, polygyny, widow inheritance, funeral expenses, and clanism, highlighting those aspects that may have enhanced development and those that tend to contribute to stagnation.
