Abstract: | Zambia ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1991. Though the Convention is not yet a part of domestic law, certain provisions in Zambian statutes cater for some rights and freedoms guaranteed in the Convention. This article comments on the Convention on the Rights of the Child in the context of Zambian laws relevant to the well-being of the child and domestic legislation which impacts on the promotion and protection of the rights of children in Zambia, particularly the Bill of Rights in Part 3 of the Constitution and Article 24 of the Constitution, which prohibits the exploitation of young persons and other maltreatment.
