Abstract:Biblical phrases of Saint Paul seem to discriminate against women, prohibiting them from taking any authoritative positions in the Church. The present author argues, however, that these writings should not be applied universally or globally. On the contrary, in present-day Africa, women play significant roles in the Church. They are in the forefront of evangelical activities, serve as prophetesses, are founders of churches, and several are 'bishops' and even 'archbishops'. Ref. [ASC Leiden abstract]
