| Abstract: | This paper presents an anthropological and phenomenological hermeneutical analysis of Ìjèsà culture and life and its impact on the development of Christianity in Nigeria since the beginning of the 20th century. It examines Ìjèsà social history and political structure as well as aspects of Ìjèsà culture and personality that have encouraged church planting and the expansion of Christianity within their community; the cultural traits in Ìjèsà individuals which advance the development of Christianity in and outside of Ìjèsàland; Ìjèsà economic culture and evangelism techniques; and the activities of some Ìjèsà Nigerian church founders and leaders.
