Abstract:	The author was arrested together with a number of comrades in April 1986, charged with committing acts of 'terrorism' against the apartheid State of South Africa. On 12 August 1987 he was sentenced to 12 years in prison, which he was to spend on Robben Island. In this paper, he writes about daily life in this prison. After President F.W. de Klerk announced the release of political prisoners in February 1990, he became a free man again on 21 February 1991. Notes. [ASC Leiden abstract]
