Abstract: | This short documentary film explores the lives of black lesbians in Johannesburg, South Africa. Black South African women are attacked and raped because they are lesbian. There is no use in going to the police, they are simply outlawed. Slowly, women are starting to work together in order to find protection against such violence. Four extraordinary women expose the experiences and struggles of African lesbians. 'Rape for Who I am' is their refusal to become victims of their sexuality. [Abstract reproduced from dvd-video] |
