Abstract: | In this inaugural address the author first gives an impression of how Africans themselves perceive change and development, based on recent research in Ghana and Burkina Faso. He then presents some positive statistical evidence about Africa as a whole. After this, he sketches his current ideas for the future of the African Studies Centre Leiden in this era of an emerging Africa. [ASC Leiden abstract] |
