Abstract:	This special issue of the African Geographical Review examines the ways in which armed conflict, political violence, and its effects on people in places may be reconsidered from critical human geographic perspectives. Across the three papers included in the issue, intersecting dynamics of colonial legacy, territoriality and attachment to land and place in the constitution of identity, gender practices, the forging of everyday spaces amid sites of post-conflict survival, recovery, and refuge, are explored in detail.
