| Abstract: | Anderson, a black American born in 1834 in Baltimore was educated in Liberia, where he served in 1864-66 as Secretary of the Treasury. American philantropists, interested in interior exploration, financed his first trip to Musadu, a town today in Guinea. In 1874 the Liberian government authorized him to make a second expedition into the same region. |
