Abstract: | Sudan has endured considerable economic strain with the loss of substantial oil revenues in the budget following the separation of South Sudan in July 2011. In this article the author discusses the effectiveness of the different fiscal and monetary policies and measures to mitigate the deficit in the budget the government has introduced since the secession.
