Abstract: | Ken Bugul is a writer from Senegal, whose real name is Mariètou Mbaye Biléoma. In the Wolof language, Ken Bugul means: 'One who is unwanted'. Ken Bugul has a reputation for being contradictory: she is respected and appreciated as an African feminist, but criticized at the same time for her alleged vindication of polygamy, because she choose to become the 28th wife of a 'marabout', a religious leader. The film paints a portrait of an exceptional artist who, book after book, has analyzed the condition of women and the relations between Africa and Europe. [Abstract reproduced from dvd-video] |
