Abstract: | This volume examines the relationship between hope and African migration. It uses the concept of hope in analyzing the aspirations for and practices of migration. The contributions illustrate that migration continues to constitute an important livelihood strategy and is seen as a pathway of improvement. They also highlight the emergence and consolidation of new destinations for migration. Case studies include migrants' countries of origin, zones of transit, and new and established destinations in Europe, North America, the Middle East, Latin America and China. [ASC Leiden abstract] |
