Abstract:Part 1, 'The two Isanwurfos' is by J.A. Braimah, himself an eastern Gonja and a member of the ruling dynasty. it is a narrative of Kpembe affairs from about 1870 to 1956. Much of the material was apparently recorded from the oral narratives fo Kpembewura Isanwurfo III, who died in 1956 about 96 years old. An important part is about the civil war ofd 1892/93 which lead to the virtual collapse of the old trading town of Salaga. J.R. Goody has added a number of notes to this part. In part 2 'The struggle for Salaga', J.R. Goody presents, with annotations, a collection of other major sources for the Salaga war. (Rev.: Africa, 1969, 4,. p. 425-426 by R.G. Thomas; Afr. Hist.
