Abstract: | Eleven papers presented at a workshop held in Bamako in 1983 and sponsored by the Comité international de liaison du corps pour l'alimentation (CILCA). The focus is specifically on planning problems relating to working with women in the agricultural sector. Purpose is to provide direct cases of ongoing projects together with specific analyses of the issues which these experiences raise. Most cases refer to Mali and are written by Malian women who direct the programmes for rural women in that country. More general reference is made to other Sahelian cases, in particular two closely related examples from Senegal and Upper Volta. Commentary by the editor which introduces the two sections of the book (women farmers in Mali and the Sahel, and development programs for rural women in Mali and the Sahel, respectively) and the editor's notes preceding each paper describe the major points of disagreement and the major problems which the papers bring out. |
