Abstract:Corruption remains a significant obstacle to investment in Uganda, despite the government's efforts to combat it. this study assesses the role of anti-corruption legal systems in fostering investment in Uganda, highlighting the definitions, types, and effects of corruption on investment. it also examines the anti-corruption measures taken by the government, including domestic, regional, and international instruments. the study found that anti-corruption legal systems can foster investment by reducing risks, criminalizing and sanctioning corruption, and ensuring redress for victims. however, more work needs to be done to address the root causes of corruption and ensure effective enforcement. the study recommends a multifaceted approach to combating corruption, including strengthening institutions, improving transparency and accountability, and promoting citizen engagement. by fostering a conducive investment environment, Uganda can attract more investment, promote economic growth, and achieve sustainable development.
