Abstract:	This paper presents field notes from an ongoing project aimed at assessing the effects of ''sport-in-development" programs in the developing world. The rapid growth of sport-in-development programs has been accompanied by a desire to evaluate the effectiveness of such programs. To date. neither the impact of these programs or the process by which they are evaluated has been widely documented. Using Moving the Goalposts Kilifi (MTGK) as a case study, the field notes presented in this article illustrate important dimensions of the initial process of survey design and implementation and highlights the significance of these processes within the overall project.
